Dolores Mae Purcell, 83, of Avoca, formerly of Duryea, passed away Sunday, August 14 at Highland Manor Nursing Center, Exeter. She was born in Duryea on May 20, 1933 and was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Hontz) Baloga.
Dolores was a member of St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Pittston. A 1950 graduate of Duryea High School and a 1954 graduate of the Pittston Hospital School of Nursing, Dolores worked as a registered nurse until the time of her retirement. Dolores' strength, wisdom, and love were and always will be an inspiration to those who had the pleasure of knowing her. She will be deeply missed.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Richard Baloga.
Dolores is survived by her husband of 60 years, Francis “Frank” Purcell, four sons, one daughter, and five grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters, Justine Houck and Beverly Dixon, both of Avoca and many nieces and nephews.
Parastas services will be held on Saturday, August 20 at 2:00pm at Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea with Fr. Gary J. Mensinger of St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Pittston officiating. Friends may call on Saturday afternoon, August 20th from 12:00pm until time of services.
