John “Nick” Connor, 70, of Duryea, passed away on Saturday, December 31 at Regional Hospital of Scranton. Born in Taylor, June 10th 1946, he was the son of the late William and Elizabeth (Dunleavy) Connor.
John was a graduate of St. Ann’s High School, Scranton. He worked for many years at Fitchburg Coated Products, Moosic and retired from the Butter-Krust Baking Co., Wilkes-Barre. After retirement, Nick worked for Wal-Mart, Taylor and also as a driver for Northeast Transit Co., Scranton. Nick was a very kind and generous man. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his siblings, Mary Hennigan, Ann Buldowski, Paul and Joseph Connor, and Catherine Scott.
John is survived by his wife of 49 years, the former Gertrude Kenehan Connor; his son, Michael, at home; and daughter, Jill Radle and her husband, Jason. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Devin, Jason, and Jameson Cash Radle; his brothers, James of Arizona, William of Hatfield, PA, and Anthony of Scranton; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 3rd at 9:30am from Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea with a mass of Christian burial at 10:00am at Queen of the Apostles Church, Hawthorne St., Avoca with Fr. Phillip Sladicka officiating. Friends may call on Monday evening, January 2nd from 5-8pm. Interment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made as the donor wishes.
