William M. O’Boyle

William M. O’Boyle, 80, of Avoca passed away Wednesday, March 14 at Riverside Rehabilitation Center in Taylor after complications from a fall.

Billy was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Ruth, in 2015. He is survived by his son and best friend Dan of Avoca, daughter and son-in-law Jenny and Randy Garner of San Diego, and grandchildren Kaitlyn (20), Jordan (11), and Brooks (6). Billy was the oldest child of William R. and Isabelle R. O’Boyle, Avoca, who preceded him in death along with his brother John. He is survived by his brothers Vince and Jim O’Boyle, his sister Pat Haddick, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Billy served in the United States Army and retired from T. P. Corporation, Duryea. He thoroughly enjoyed his years of retirement. Billy was an avid outdoorsman who spent his days hunting, fishing, and reloading bullets. Billy was a master fly tier whose work was second to none. He would read for hours a day about history, geography, nature, etc., proudly recalling details long forgotten by others. If you knew Billy, you knew these things, and likely shared a beer (or two) talking about them.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff who cared for Billy in his final weeks at Riverside Rehab. Dan and Jenny are grateful beyond words for your care.

To remember Billy, please join his family at Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea on Saturday, April 7, from 12pm-2pm.

In lieu of flowers, kindly make memorial donations to the National Kidney Foundation in memory of his wife Ruth.
