Helen J. Perks, 96, of Hughestown passed away on December 20, 2018 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born in Laflin, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Karolina Yurish. She attended Laflin and West Pittston schools and retired after many years of employment in the regional garment manufacturing industry. She was a member of St. Maria Goretti Parish Church, Laflin.

Helen was an avid reader during her entire life and loved socializing with her family and friends. She also enjoyed listening to music. She maintained an active interest in local, regional and national news events. She loved being with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were a great source of joy and happiness for her and they will deeply miss her.
Helen is survived by her children: Arlene Warunek, of Hughsetown, Charles Volpetti and his wife Freeda, of Plymouth, MA and Charlene Todd, Avenel, NJ. Grandchildren: Sherry Mascio, Dean and Jeff Todd Sean and Erin Volpetti. Great grandchildren: Nicholas, Sara, Spencer, Stella Mae Volpetti, Isabella, Christian, and Julian Mascio and Marissa Todd.
Her daughter, Carolyn Monchelli and her granddaughter Terri Warunek passed away several years prior, she is also preceded in death by her husband, William H. Perks, her siblings, Catherine Jedrick, Agnes Blocki, Mary Stavischak, Carolyn Morris, Ann Bolacker and Stephen and Jack Yurish.
Funeral services will be Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 10:30am from Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea with a mass of Christian burial at 11:00am at St. Maria Goretti Parish Church, 42 Redwood Dr., Laflin, with Fr. James J. Walsh officiating.
Family and friends may call on Friday, December 28th from 5-8pm at Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc. Interment will follow in the West Pittston Cemetery.
