Joseph C. Nosek, 64, of Duryea, passed away on Monday, January 7, 2019 at the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital, Wilkes-Barre. He was born in Duryea, November 26, 1954 and was the son of the late William and Claire (Gurney) Nosek.
Joseph was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish Church, Duryea. He was a graduate of Pittston Area High School, class of 1972. For many years, Joe worked as a carpenter and a carpet and floor installer having worked for Sun Builders and Darinzo Carpet and Flooring, Old Forge. He was also employed by Pride Mobility for over 7 years. Joseph was a social member of the Duryea VFW and the Duryea American Legion.
Joe loved sports. He was a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers Fan and very devoted to his grandchildren having been involved with the Duryea Little League and attending many games over the years. He was a loving spouse, father, grandfather, uncle and friend and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Leona Williams.
Joseph is survived by his companion of 30 years Linda Weitz and children, Alan Weitz of Duryea, Crystal Williams of Pittston Twp., and Maria Weitz of Duryea. Also surviving are his sister Marilyn Burton of Meshoppen and brother William Nosek of Dupont; his grandchildren, Jonathon, David, Layla, Alannah, Francis, Gage, Alijah, and Isabella; his niece Leona Smith and nephew Fran Williams.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Duryea Little League Association, 700 Foote Ave., Duryea, PA 18642.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 12th at 9:30am from Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea with a mass of Christian burial at 10:00am at Nativity of Our Lord Parish Church, Stephenson St., Duryea with Fr. John V. Polednak officiating. Friends may call on Friday, January 11th from 5-8pm.
