Amanda Smith

Amanda Smith, 36, of Pittston, passed away on Friday, January 28th, 2022, resulting from injuries pertaining to a hit and run investigation in Moosic. She was born in Duryea on August 26, 1985 and was the daughter of Karen Milazzo and Adam Smith.

Amanda attended Pittston Area High School. She then obtained her GED from Marywood University, Scranton. She graduated from Lackawanna County Community College with an associates degree in elementary education. She was employed for several years for the Walmart Corp., Pittston and was currently employed at Gerrity’s supermarket, Moosic.


Amanda was a loving mother, sister, and friend. Family was the heart of her life. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.


In addition to her parents, she is survived by her children Todd Hughes, of Scranton, and Dakota and Eric Saar, both of Scranton. Also surviving are her brother Adam Smith, Jr., of St Robert, Missouri; her niece Addison Smith; and nephews Adam Smith III and Alexander Smith. Amanda is preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Renee Smith.


A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at 10:30am at Nativity of Our Lord Parish Church, 127 Stephenson St., Duryea with Fr. Michael Bryant officiating. Friends may call on Saturday morning from 9:30am until time of mass. Interment will be held at the Langcliffe Cemetery, Avoca.


Amanda’s family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff on the 3rd floor ICU unit of Geisinger CMC for their excellent care and compassion that they provided to Amanda.


Family and friends that are attending the visitation or the mass are strongly encouraged to abide by the CDC guidelines, to take precautions, and wear a facial mask when entering the church.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Karen Milazzo in care of Peoples Security Bank, Old Forge.


Arrangements are made by Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea.
