Ann Marie Milon O’Malley

Ann Marie Milon O’Malley passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday April 9, 2024 at Wesley Village.

She was born October 16, 1941, to the late Andrew J. Milon and Stella Borek Milon of Dupont, PA.

Ann Marie graduated from St. John the Evangelist High School in Pittston, PA at the age of 16 and joined her mother in making the women of Dupont and surrounding areas beautiful at Stella’s Beauty Salon located at 100 Lincoln Street in Dupont.  Many of her clients became lifelong friends and “aunts” to her three children.  She made everyone who walked through her door at the shop and her home feel special and loved.  She definitely had a zest for life and loved a good laugh, good friends, and a great time.

In 1989, she was honored to be elected as President of the Dupont Borough Council and served in that capacity for 12 years.  She wore many hats in that role and loved every moment of her service to the community.  She was very proud to serve the citizens of Dupont.

Her favorite role was that of “Nana” to her seven grandchildren. She took great pride in their accomplishments and cherished their visits. “Nana, you always did make the best bacon – crispy and perfect every time!”

She retired in 2007, after having worked for 50 years practicing her craft at Stella’s.  In 2011, she relocated to Lutherwood in Scranton, PA.  There she made many friends and served as President of the Residents Council for many years.  She enjoyed her years there, selling stamps with her grandchildren and attending programs.

In 2021, she transitioned into the United Methodist Homes Community first at Anderson Personal Care and most recently residing at Wesley Village – the family would like to thank the staff for the great care and attention they provided to her over the last few years.  Even in her declining health, she still loved a good laugh, good friends, and her many treats smuggled in by friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Fr. Augustine “Gus” Milon, OFM.

She will be lovingly remembered by her three children and seven grandchildren: Ann Marie Banko (David) Wind Gap, PA; Jim (Caroline) Duryea, PA; and Mike (Roxane) Duryea, PA;  Grandchildren, David P. and Sarah R. Banko; Caidyn, Kyle and Logan O’Malley; Drew and Mick O’Malley.  In addition, she was also known as loving “Auntie Ann” to Michael and Elizabeth Kulick.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ann Marie’s memory to Wesley Village, 209 Roberts Road, Pittston, PA 18640.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 12th from 5 PM to 7 PM at Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc. located at 255 McAlpine Street, Duryea, PA 18642.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 AM Saturday, April 13th at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 215 Lackawanna Ave., Dupont, PA.  Burial services to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery also located in Dupont.

All those attending the funeral mass, please proceed directly to Sacred Heart Church. There will be no procession from the funeral home.

To the family of Ann Marie,

I have many wonderful memories from my childhood, spending time with Aunt Stella and Uncle Andy and playing with Ann Marie and Andy Jo. My mother was Sophie Parduski. I am her daughter Agnes.

May you keep Ann Maries memory close to your hearts ...
