Arnold J. Thompson, 84, of Pittston, passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital, Wilkes-Barre. He was born in Duryea on May 26, 1939, and was the son of the late Henry and Isabel Kaminski Thompson.
Arnold was a 1957 graduate of Duryea High School, where he excelled at playing high school football. He worked for National Utilities for 30 years, then worked 15 years for Noto Electric and finally retired from the Elmhurst Country Club with over ten years of employment.
Arnold loved to play darts in his younger years, and later in life became an excellent golfer. He enjoyed spending his time with his loving family and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter Denise Frantz.
Arnold is survived by his wife of 44 years, Carole Laymon Thompson and his children, Joseph Thompson and wife Karen, of Duryea, Kimberly Cardamone and her husband Vince, of Scranton, and AJ Thompson and his wife Kelly of Spring City, PA. Also surviving are his three grandchildren, Maggie, Jace, and Mairin Thompson; his brothers Earl Thompson and his wife Sharon, of Duryea, and Bart Kaminski and his wife Diane, of Annville; his sister Marilou Fereck and her husband Michael, of Duryea; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, August 11, 2023, at 5:00pm at Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea with Rev. Michael Shambora officiating. Friends may call for visitation on Friday afternoon, August 11th from 3pm until time of services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN38105-9959.
AJ, please pass on my deepest sympathy to your Mother and siblings on the recent passing of your Father. He was a good man. I still remember him sitting behind the bench for every game you played in.
