Carol (Moore) Stevens, 82, of Duryea, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday September 18, 2024 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital, Wilkes-Barre. She was born in Moosic, June 11, 1942 and was the daughter of the late Chester and Dolores (Burnside) Moore.
Carol was a graduate of Bloomfield High School, Bloomfield NJ. class of 1960. She worked many years as a home health care nurse, and then became a foster mother.
She was involved with the Boy Scouts as a Den mother and a leader with the Girl Scouts.
Carol loved children so much, that during her life she spent 30 years as a foster mother to over 100 children, and her children and grandchildren’s friends would affectionately call her Mom or Grammy. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her son Marc Stevens and her brother George Moore.
Carol is survived by her loving husband of 63 years Kenneth Stevens, daughters, Rebecca Psolka and her husband Brian, of Pittston, Patricia Powell and her husband Dave, of Duryea and Laura Romanczuk, of Duryea, her sons, Michael Stevens and his wife Laura, of Edwardsville and Daniel Stevens of Duryea. Also surviving are her 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, her sister Gwen Sarti of Moosic, several nieces and nephews and all children who considered her Mom.
Celebration of Life services for Carol will be held on September 29, 2024 for her close friends and family.
