Daniel Brady

Daniel Brady, 82, of Suscon passed away at his home on Friday, June 16, 2023. He was born in Hughestown on March 30, 1941, and was the son of the late Eugene and Josephine Alonis Brady.

Daniel was a member of Queen of The Apostles Parish Church, Avoca. He was a graduate of Hughestown High School, Class of 1958. Daniel was a lifelong carpenter. He started with Scranton Roofing and then, along with his family, he became the co-owner of Brady Brothers Home Improvement.


The heart of Danny’s life was the love of his life, Rita, his wife of 59 years, and his family. Surrounded by six children, seventeen grandchildren, and one great-grandchild, Danny knew a love and a joy that was limitless.


He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. In his earlier years, he excelled at baseball and enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren enjoy the game as they grew up. Daniel will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.


In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Eugene Brady, Shirley Hoban, Mary Jo Adams, Edward Brady, and Paul Brady.


Daniel is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 59 years, Rita Renfer Brady; his children, Daniel, Jr, of Suscon., Mark and his wife Deborah, of Pittston, Gail O’Hop and her husband Henry, of Suscon, Lisa Whitman and her husband Daniel, of Avoca, Bill of Suscon, and Erin Ondich and her husband John of Bear Creek. Also surviving are his 17 grandchildren, Jennifer, Brianne, Kaitlin, Henry, Amanda, Laura, Daniel, Shannen, Sara, Taryn, Mark, John, Megan, Danielle, John, Ryan and Lauren; his great-great-grandson Ben; and several nieces and nephews.


A mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at 10:00am at Queen of The Apostles Parish Church, 715 Hawthorne St., Avoca with Fr. Phillip Sladicka officiating. Friends may call for visitation on Wednesday morning from 9am until time of mass.
