Daniel J. Boone

Daniel J. Boone, 85, of Stroudsburg, passed away on Friday, August 26, 2022, at the New Eastwood Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Easton. He was born in Avoca, June 4, 1937, and was the son of the late Henry “Harry” and Helen (Hopkins) Boone.

Dan was a graduate of A.J. Demarest High School, Hoboken, NJ. He joined the US Army Air Force in 1958 and was honorably discharged in 1962. Dan retired from the United States Postal Service, Englishtown, NJ in 2002. Daniel was very devoted to his family. He loved studying American history and was a fan of the Boston Red Sox. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.


In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Robert, Paul, John, James, and Bernard and sisters, Anna Frew and Sally Jeffery.


He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Rose Ann (Kosbab) Boone; children, Melinda Boone, of Orlando, FL, Joseph Boone and his wife Gretchen, of DeLand, FL, and Cheryl Strunk and her husband Kevin, of Blakeslee. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Bryan Niedzwiecki and wife Amanda, Daniel and his wife Blain Niedzwiecki, Michael Chapman and his wife Jamie, Travis Strunk, Collin Strunk, Madelyn Petruzzi and husband Eddie and Margaret Boone, great grandchildren, Olivia, Emma, Charlie N, Skylar, Edward, Elliot and Charlie C. and many nieces and nephews.


Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at 11:00am from Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea with a mass of Christian burial at 11:30am at Queen of The Apostles Parish Church, 715 Hawthorne St., Avoca with Fr. Phillip Sladicka officiating. Friends may call on Wednesday morning August 31, from 9am until time of service. AMVETS honor guard of Greater Pittston will provide military honors. Interment will take place at a later date at the Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ.
