Donald Collins

Donald Collins, 93, of Avoca, passed away at Wesley Village Nursing Home, Pittston on Tuesday, December 29, 2020. He was born in Dupont on April 9, 1927 and was the son of the late Edward and Edna (Frounfelker) Collins.

Donald was a member of the Independent Bible Church, Duryea. He attended Dupont schools, and enlisted into the US Marine Corp and served during WWII. After the war, Donald was employed by Independent Explosives, and then worked for many years as a self-employed carpenter. He retired in 1992 as a shop carpenter for Marriotti Lumber Supply, Old Forge after several years of employment. Donald loved to fish and spend time in his garden, but most of all he enjoyed spending his time with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.


In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Mary L. (Murdoch) Collins, who died February 23, 2009; his daughter Debra Williams; and his sisters Eleanor Mastronardi, and Evelyn Wescott.


Donald is survived by his son, Donald Collins, Jr. and wife Karen, of Avoca and daughter Linda Collins, of Avoca; his sisters Doris Reap, of Avoca and Lois Maciorowski, of Moosic; six grandchildren, Donny Collins and wife Yvette, Jeremy Collins and wife Kim, Kimberly Walsh and

husband Thomas, Christopher Collins, Candace Lohrmann and her husband Buddy and Amanda Williams; nine great-grandchildren, Marcus Collins, Emily Collins, Alexander Collins, Maxwell Collins, Danny, Ryan Collins, Matt Collins, Baya Walsh, and Macie Lohrmann; and several nieces and nephews.


Private family funeral services with interment will be held the Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery, Elmhurst. AMVETS Honor Guard of Greater Pittston will provide military honors.
