Edward J. Tetlak

Edward J. Tetlak, 92, of Dupont passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at the Highland Manor Nursing and Rehab Center, Exeter.  He was born in Dupont, January 24, 1932, and was the son of the late John and Frances (Rokita) Tetlak.


Edward was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Dupont.  He was a graduate of Dupont High School, class of 1950. Upon graduating high school, he joined the US Navy and served during the Korean War from 1953-1957 with the rank as IC2.  When Edward returned to the States, he and his wife of 67 years Margaret (Dolan) Tetlak relocated to the state of Connecticut where Edward attended the Bridgeport Engineering Institute with an associate’s degree in electrical engineering.  Ed and his family moved back to NEPA, and he worked as an Electrician for many area companies. Edward along with his brother started their own business, Dairy Dan Ice Cream Company and then Ed was the owner and operator of the Double D Restaurant, Dupont.  Edward was a member of the Dupont VFW Post 4909

 

After retirement Ed, enjoyed working in his vegetable garden, spending time with his family and friends, he loved the outdoors, fishing with family and friends enjoying their company and telling great stories.  Ed will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.

 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter Theresa Wesolowski, his son Vincent Tetlak, and his brothers and sisters, Walter Tetlak, Pauline Singer, Eleanore Szymanowski, Stella Kurek and Jean Hudock.

 

Edward is survived by his wife Margaret, his daughter Ann Exter, of Pittston Twp. And son Stephen Tetlak and his wife Becky, of Ohio.  Also surviving are his grandchildren; Mark Wesolowski, Christina Exter, Dominique Exter, Breanna Singer, and Henry and Emma Tetlak.

 

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 8th at 9:30am from Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea.  A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10am at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Dupont with Fr. Thomas Petro officiating.  Friends may call for visitation on Friday morning from 8:30am until time of service. Interment will take place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Carverton.
