Elizabeth Lizak, 89, formerly of Dupont, passed away on January 16, 2025, in Herndon, Virginia where she was residing with her daughter Michelle. She was born in Dupont on September 3, 1935, and was the daughter of the late Martin and Anna (Lukasik) Hanczyc.
Elizabeth was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish Church, Dupont. She was a graduate of St. John’s High School, Pittston and also a graduate of the Muhlenberg School of Nursing, NJ. Elizabeth retired from Mercy Hospital, Scranton after many years of employment.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, William, Theodore, Pauline Paoli, Mary Chilson, and Martin.
She is survived by her daughter Michelle Nagy and her husband Dezso, of Herndon, VA and her grandchildren, Matthew, Jacob, and wife Alyssa, and Joshua Nagy, as well as her great granddaughter Sophia Nagy, and her brother Thomas and his wife Barbara of Delaware, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2025, with a mass of Christian burial at 10:00am at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 215 Lackawanna Ave., Dupont, with Fr. Thomas Petro officiating. Friends may call for visitation on Wednesday evening, January 22nd from 5pm-7pm at Kiesinger Funeral Services, 255 McAlpine St., Duryea. Interment will be held at the parish cemetery.
