Jean Major Coffee, 87, of Avoca, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at her home. She was born in Avoca on May 6, 1936, and was the daughter of the late Adam and Lottie Kolander Major.
She was a member of Queen of The Apostles Parish Church, Avoca. She was a graduate of Avoca High School. She retired as a secretary and bookkeeper in the local garment industry.
Jean worked hard all of her life and remained active well into her late-80's. She was a kind and giving person and her family benefited most from the depth of care she so willingly offered and shared. Evidence of this was the way she cared for her mother, especially in the later stages of her life and her unrelenting care for all of her children whom she loved deeply.
Jean loved her many trips to casinos throughout PA and New Jersey with her brother John and companion Barbara. She was an avid fan of the show General Hospital. The characters and drama kept her company over the years. She was loved greatly by her children and grandchildren and will be deeply missed. Special gratitude goes out to her beloved friend, Barbara Fairchild, who looked after Jean over the years with great devotion.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph E. Coffee who passed away December 9th, 2015.
Jean is survived by her children, Joseph and his wife Kim of Georgia, Robert, of North Carolina, and Darleen Coffee and her companion David Olivieri, of Avoca. Also surviving are her beloved grandchildren, Shane and his wife Destiny, Andrew, Jason, Justin, Angel and Grace, great grandchild Miracle, her sister Dorothy Faulkner and her husband Archie, of Moosic, her brothers, Joseph and his wife Dawn, of Avoca, and John and his companion Barbara Fairchild, of Avoca, her brother-in-law Jerry Coffee and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be privately held at the convenience of the family.
