Josephine Deprimo Endres

Josephine Deprimo Endres, 95, of Avoca, passed away on Saturday, June 29th at her home with her loving family and caregivers at her side. She was born in Pittston on September 5, 1928, and was the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Santa (Torone) Deprimo.

Josephine was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish Church, Duryea.  She was a graduate of Pittston City High School.  She worked her entire life in the local garment industry and retired from Del-Mar Dress Company, Pittston.

Josephine enjoyed shopping and loved to clean and maintain her home in Avoca, but most of all she loved spending time with her family and her friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, John Endres, who died December 17th, 2007; her daughters Dawn I. Hobbs and Alice Bratlee; and her brothers and sisters Frank, Paul, Sam, Nora Sperrazza, Mary and Rose Deprimo and Lillian Bartosiewicz.

She is survived by her children, John Endres, Jr. and his wife Deborah, of Springbrook, Linda Farruggia and her husband Stephen, of Hughestown, Virginia Szumski and her husband Matthew, of Dupont and Tessie Toole, of Duryea.  Also surviving are her 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Josephine’s family would like to thank Allied hospice and her loving caregivers, Jackie, Nancy, Nancy Karen and Katie who showed her love, care, and compassion.

A mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, July 3rd at 10:00am at Nativity of Our lord Parish Church, 127 Stephenson St., Duryea with Fr. Joseph Elston officiating.  Friends may call on Tuesday, July 2nd from 5pm-7pm at Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea.  Friends and family are asked to go directly to the church on Wednesday morning. There will be no procession from the funeral home.  Interment will be held at The Cemetery of The German People, Hughestown.
