Kenneth Stevens

Kenneth Stevens, 84, of Duryea, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at his home.  He was born in West Wyoming on September 27, 1940, and was the son of the late William J. Stevens and Beatrice (Condon) Stevens.


Kenneth was a graduate of West Wyoming High School, class of 1958.  He was employed at Potlatch Paper Products, Ransom and retired from Schott Optical, Duryea with over 30 years of employment.  Kenneth was involved with the Boy Scouts as a Leader and joined his wife Carol in their involvement with the Girl Scouts.  He was a die-hard Philadelphia Eagles football fan, and enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and camping with his family and his friends.

 

Kenneth, along with his wife Carol (Moore) Stevens who died on September 18, 2024, loved children so much that during their life they spent 30 years as foster parents to over 100 children and his children and grandchildren’s friends would affectionately call him Dad or Pop. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

 

In addition to his parents and his wife Carol, he is preceded in death by his son Marc Stevens, and siblings; Dorothy Robbins, William John Stevens and Ruth Stropes.

 

Kenneth is survived by his daughters, Rebecca Psolka and her husband Brian, of Pittston, Patricia Powell and her husband Dave, of Duryea and Laura Romanczuk, of Duryea, his sons, Michael Stevens and his wife Laura, of Edwardsville and Daniel Stevens of Duryea.  Also surviving are his 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and all the children who considered him Dad.

 

Celebration of life services for Kenneth will be held at a later date for his close friends and family.

 

Arrangements are made by Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea.
