Lottie Ann Nyzio, 94, of Avoca, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Highland Manor Nursing Center in Exeter. She was born in Avoca on March 10, 1930, to the late Walter and Stefania (Mycek) Bryk.
Lottie was a devoted member of SS Peter and Paul Parish Church in Avoca until it’s closure, after which she joined Nativity of Our Lord Parish in Duryea. She attended Avoca Schools and spent many years working in the local garment industry. However, her true passion was caring for her beloved family. She also started her own business specializing in home curtain and window treatments.
Lottie was deeply committed to her faith and her parish community. She taught Catechism and actively participated in religious retreats and parish events. She also had a love for gardening particularly tending to her vegetable garden. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Lottie is preceded in death by her husband, Edward J. Nyzio, who passed away in 2003, her daughter, Janice Nyzio, and her nine siblings.
She is survived by her children: Rosemarie Acernese and her husband Chris of Jenkins Twp; Edward J. Nyzio Jr. and his wife Donna of Old Forge; and David J. Nyzio and his wife Michelle of Moosic. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jeffrey Nyzio, Stefanie Shook, Nicholle Nyzio, David Nyzio Jr., Edward J. Nyzio III, Miranda Ruddy, Jason Shilinski, and Alyssa Gilmartin, Along with 15 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at 11:00am at Nativity Of Our Lord Parish Church, 127 Stephenson St, Duryea, with Fr. Michael Bryant officiating. Friends may call for visitation on Tuesday morning from 10:00am until time of mass. Interment will be held at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Avoca.
