Patricia Plappert

Patricia Plappert, 79, of Dupont, passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 with her loving family at her side at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital. Born August 25, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Ann (Duda) Ferdyn.

Pat was a member of Our Lady of the Eucharist Parish Church, Pittston. She was Valedictorian and President of the class of 1961 Dupont High School. She was employed for 32 years at PNC Bank, Avoca, where she made many friends. She was also the co-owner of Don’s Vending Company.


Pat and the love of her life, Don, enjoyed many fishing trips to Canada and various parts of the USA, and many cruises. Their love and devotion will always be unmatched. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her mother and father-in-law, and her brother and sister-in law.


She is survived by her husband Don, her beloved son Mark J. Zakoski and companion Cindy Hunter, her brother Allan Ferdyn and wife Jody who was very close to her, loving stepdaughter Ronna Buckley and her companion Matt, and treasured grandchildren; Ashley Buckley Arevelo (Mike, PhD), Kayla Buckley, RN, her special cousin, Elaine Purta, several cousins, and nephews. She leaves many dear friends and her best friend of 74 years, Helen Kosik Wesley behind.


Pat would like to extend a special thank you to Fr. Paul McDonnell and Sister Mary Ann Cody, IHM of Our Lady of the Eucharist Parish Church, Pittston.


A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at10:30am at Our Lady of the Eucharist Parish Church, 535 North Main St., Pittston, PA with Fr. Paul McDonnell officiating. Friends may call for visitation at the church from 9:30am until time of service. Interment will be held at St. Mary’s Assumption Cemetery, Hughestown.


Arrangements are made by Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea.
