Robert A. Wickizer, Sr., 91, of Duryea, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 13, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Duryea on August 25, 1933, Robert was the son of the late Russell and Margaret Miller Wickizer.

Robert was a proud graduate of Duryea High School, class of 1952. Following graduation, he honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After his service, Robert dedicated 35 years of employment to the McKinney Corporation.
A lifelong member of the Brick United Methodist Church in Duryea, Robert was also an active member of the Duryea American Legion Post 585. Known for his skill and passion as a handyman, he approached every project with precision and care. He and his wife, Joan, shared a love for travel, exploring the United States and the world with their daughter Carey. Robert was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend His warmth, kindness, and unwavering dedication to his family will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Russell, Donald, Kenneth, Richard, Arthur, and Barry Wickizer, and sisters: Janet Kreig, Margaret Cremard and Jean Fretti.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Joan Coyne Wickizer; daughters, Carey Wickizer, of Richmond, VA, Kelly Korea and her husband, Jerry, of Duryea; son, Robert Wickizer, Jr. and his wife, Stephanie, of San Antonio, Texas. He was a cherished grandfather to Marissa Brodi and her husband, Francis, Mark Korea, Sophia Wickizer, and Carmen Wickizer, and a proud great-grandfather to Brielle Brodi. He is also survived by his sister, Marylin Pepsin, of Old Forge along with several nieces and nephews.
Robert’s family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Guy Fasciana and the nurses and staff of Compassionate Care Hospice, for their exceptional care and kindness during his final days.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family, with interment at Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery, Elmhurst.
