Rose Mary (Bidwell) Chrobak

Rose Mary (Bidwell) Chrobak, 80, of Scranton, formerly of Avoca, passed away on Thursday August 13, 2020 at her home. She was born in Scranton, October 12, 1939 and was the daughter of the late Anthony and Catherine (Loughney) Bidwell.

Rose was a former member of SS Peter and Paul Church, Avoca. She attended Scranton Tech High School. Rose, along with her husband Wally, were the owners and operators of Wally’s Place Tavern, Avoca. She retired from Topps Chewing Gum after many years of employment.

It saddens us to say that we lost one of the most wonderful women in the world. Throughout the years, Rosemary has touched the hearts of so many. Although many have not seen her in years, they would still show the love they had for her. When she was told that “so-n-so” said hello, she would always remember something about them, never seeming to forget anyone. The family would like to thank everyone for making Rosemary such a special person. She will be missed and be forever loved with all the hearts she’s touched.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Walter “Wally” Chrobak, who passed away February 15, 1999 and her brothers Edward, Richard and Patrick.

Rose is survived by her sons Michael and his wife Rachel, of Dallas, Eric and wife Cherri, of Thornhurst, Joseph and his wife Christine, of Dupont and Steven, of Duryea. Also surviving are her grandchildren Kyle, Emily, Jonah, Sydney and Madelyn; sisters Mary Louise, Sharon, Judi and Joann; snd many nieces and nephews.

A mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, August 20 at 10:00am at Queen of The Apostles Parish Church, 715 Hawthorne St., Avoca with Fr. Phillip Sladicka officiating. Friend may call on Wednesday evening, August 19 from 5-7pm at Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea. If attending the mass or visitation, please be mindful that masks and social distancing are required at all times. Family and friends are asked to go directly to the church on Thursday morning for services. There will be no procession from the funeral home. Interment will be held at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Avoca.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice.
