Ruth A. Stead, 78, of Pittston passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at the Highland Manor Nursing Center, Exeter. She was born in Patterson NJ on February 7th, 1946, and was the daughter of the late James and Ann (Hoover) Barlow.
Ruth was a graduate of Northeast High School, Duryea. She retired from the dietary department of Wesley Village Nursing Center with over 35 years of employment.
Ruth loved spending time outdoors in nature camping with her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Thomas J. Stead and her son-in-law George Hammon.
She is survived by her daughters, Laurie Hammon, of Hughestown, Tracey Stead and her husband Roy Decresenza, of Scott Twp. and Jaime Stead and her fiancé John McCracken, of Hughestown. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Ryan Decresenza and his wife Kristin, Justin Brace, Harley Decresenza and Dezerey Decresenza, and her great-grandchildren, Rose and Ryker Decresenza.
Ruth’s family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff of Highland Manor Nursing and Care Center and Compassionate Care Hospice for their excellent care and compassion.
Funeral services will be privately held at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are made by Kiesinger Funeral Services, Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea.
So Sorry to hear of your mom's passing. We didn't know that she was in a nursing home. Many years have passed since our poker games, but we will always remember those fun times. She was a good person.
